Master bedroom.

We were engaged to transform this bedroom within a beachside home into a calm, cocooning sanctuary a space the client could retreat to and unwind.

With a strong westerly aspect, the room was often bathed in warm afternoon light, so careful consideration was given to the colour palette. A deep charcoal-brown was selected to create a cooling effect while still delivering the enveloping, restful atmosphere the client desired. This rich backdrop also served to beautifully highlight the client’s existing heirloom timber furniture, allowing each piece to feel intentional.

Layering texture was key to softening the space. A custom silk bedhead was designed to introduce a sense of quiet luxury and contrast against the depth of the wall colour, while a bespoke ottoman at the foot of the bed added both function and refinement. Existing chairs were reupholstered to sit harmoniously within the scheme, tying back to the embroidered silk cushions and enhancing the overall cohesion of the room.

In response to the client’s request for a dedicated space to sit and get ready, we sourced an antique fruitwood desk to serve as a dressing table. Its fold-away functionality offered both practicality and elegance, seamlessly integrating into the room without overwhelming it.

The result is a layered and intimate space - grounded, textural and serene that feels both deeply personal and effortlessly resolved.
