Mosman 1920s Powder Room

Tucked off the hallway of the same 1920's Mosman home as our kitchen renovation, this powder room was a chance to do something the rest of the house couldn't. Where the main living areas called for a considered, grounded palette, this small, self-contained room gave us permission to be playful, and we took it, choosing a moody, storybook wallpaper as the starting point for the whole design.

An ornate timber vanity and mirror were selected to sit comfortably within the home's original 1920's character, while the wallpaper's dark, whimsical print gave the room a sense of theatre entirely its own. Brass tapware and warm lighting were layered in to soften the drama and keep the space feeling considered rather than costume-like, a small room with a big personality, exactly as a powder room should be.

The result is a space that surprises guests and reflects the confidence a powder room allows, proof that the smallest rooms in a home are often where the most memorable design decisions can be made.
