Paddington is one of Sydney's most cohesive and carefully preserved heritage suburbs. Its rows of Victorian terraces, with their ornate cast iron lacework, sandstone details and symmetrical facades, march down hillsides and turn corners along tree-lined streets in a way few other suburbs can match. It was the first suburb in Australia to be classified by the National Trust, and that heritage conservation status protects the streetscapes that make Paddington so distinctive today. Emily Webster, principal designer at The Style Workshop, has spent 17 years working with residential clients across Sydney's heritage-rich premium suburbs.
